Attendance Expectations

Regular and punctual attendance is essential for your child’s success in school.

Positive attendance habits help develop responsibility and engagement toward learning.

Please keep your child home if they are vomiting, have a fever, or show signs of a contagious illness.
Reporting an Absence

Each absence must be verified by phone, parentsquare message, or a written note.

Specific reason for the absence

Excused Absences Include:

Personal illness or medical quarantine

Medical, dental, optometric, or chiropractic appointments

Religious holidays or ceremonies

Required court appearances

Death in the immediate family
Unexcused absences are all other reasons not listed above.
Physician’s Note Policy

After 14 total absences, the district requires a doctor’s note for any further absences.

Failure to provide documentation will result in unexcused absences.
Tardy Policy

School begins promptly at 8:00 AM.
-
Students are considered tardy after the 8:00 bell, even if they are on campus but not yet in class.

To ensure on-time arrival, we recommend arriving between 7:35–7:45 AM.

Unexcused tardies include reasons such as oversleeping, waiting for rides, or traffic delays.
Late Arrivals & Early Check-Outs

Students arriving late must check in at the front office before going to class.

To check your child out early, please:

Visit the front office—staff will call for your child.

Sign your child out at the office.

Ensure the person picking up your child is listed on the emergency card and presents photo ID.

Our Role
- The Health Office plays a vital role in promoting the well-being and safety of all students during the school day.
- Our primary responsibilities include:
- Providing immediate care for minor injuries or illnesses
- Administering medications according to school policy and healthcare guidelines
- Monitoring student health to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment
When Students Feel Sick at School
- If your child feels ill or is injured, they should inform their teacher or supervising staff immediately.
- The student will be sent to the Health Office for evaluation.
- If a student exhibits:
- Fever of 100.4°F or higher
- Vomiting or diarrhea
- Other contagious symptoms
the parent or guardian will be contacted to pick up the child to prevent the spread of illness and ensure proper care.
- A courtesy call is made to parents or guardians each time a student visits the Health Office, regardless of the severity of the concern.
Medication Policy
- Whenever possible, medication should be taken at home under parent supervision.
- Prescription and over-the-counter medications may only be administered at school:
- By authorized school staff
- With a completed SAUSD Parent/Physician Medication Authorization Form
- When the medication is supplied to the office in its original container
- Students may not carry any medication (prescription or over-the-counter) on campus.
- Parents may leave approved medication with school personnel for administration as directed.
Over-the-Counter Medications
- Even common items such as lotions, petroleum jelly, or lip balm require doctor authorization before use at school.
- To allow access to these items, please submit an Over-the-Counter Parent/Guardian Authorization Form to the Health Office.
School Nurse Availability
- A school nurse is available on campus daily to assist with student health needs, medication administration, and emergencies.
- Our goal is to ensure every student feels safe, cared for, and supported, allowing them to focus on learning in a healthy environment.

- Blouses
- College shirts (encouraged on designated days to promote college awareness)
- Spirit shirts (may be worn on spirit days or Fridays)
Bottoms

Types of Bottoms:
- Pants
- Shorts

Additional Guidelines:
- Jeans are allowed as long as they are not ripped, torn, or distressed.
- All clothing should be neat, clean, and appropriately sized for school activities.
Shoes & Footwear
👟 Guidelines:
- Closed-toe shoes are required at all times for safety.
- Athletic or sturdy shoes are recommended for playground and P.E. activities.
- Crocs, sandals, flip-flops, or open-toe shoes are not permitted.
- Shoes should be securely fastened (no loose or backless styles).
